Rescue 5 assists on a Working Appartment Fire in the Village of Berwyn

On Tuesday, December 15th, St. 2 (Berwyn), along with Delaware County St. 15 (Radnor) and St. 3 (Paoli) were dispatched at 15:59 hrs (3:59 p.m) for a reported building fire at the Main Line Berwyn Apartments 'C' Building. The initial call to 9-1-1 indicated a possible fire on the roof.

The crew from Engine 2-3 arrived on location and confirmed fire, requesting a "Working Fire Dispatch" to be struck to bring additional resources to the scene.At 16:05 hrs (4:05 pm), Station 5 was alerted for Rescue 5. Rescue 5 responded shortly thereafter with a full crew.

The fire was placed under control at 16:29 hrs (4:29 p.m.)

Fire and water damage affected two apartments and a section of the roof. The Chester County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to be accidental.

No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported due to the quick actions of 60 volunteers and 6 paid personnel.
